Sugar Bread Cookie Cream Stars

Yummy yummy in our tummies! I made these Sugar Bread Cookie Cream Stars for dessert, they were wolfed down like there was no tomorrow. Whooo wee! I can't wait to make these for the 4th of July! They're easy and scrumptious! I love fresh fruit with sweet cream cheese, they were meant to be together.

Sugar Bread Cookies

3 c. Flour
3/4 tsp. Baking Powder
Dash of salt
1 c. Applesauce
1 1/4 c. Sugar
1 egg- beaten
1 T. Milk

In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt together.

In a separate bowl blend together the sugar and applesauce. Add the egg and milk. Blend again. Slowly add in the flour mixture.

Roll in a ball and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

When ready, cut the ball in half. Place the "half ball" on a floured surface. Add flour to reduce "stickyness" if needed. Roll out with a floured rolling pin until 1/4 in' thick. Cut with a star cookie cutter.

Place the stars on a greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until the edges begin to turn gold.

(Repeat steps with the other half of the dough)

Sweet Cream

3/4 c. Sugar
1 1/2 pkgs. Cream Cheese (12 oz.) - room temp.
3 T. Milk
*1/4 tsp. Lemon Extract

Whip together all ingredients until smooth.
"Frost"on the sugar bread cookie stars and top with fresh blueberries and strawberry slices.

*You can leave the cream plain or add the lemon. We also tried it with Almond extract and it was AWESOME! All 3 options are great, it's just up to you and what flavor you want!
