Paint Stick Sunburst

I needed something big and fun above my guest bedroom beds. This certainly makes a statement, and it was practically free! I went to a hardware store and asked if I could buy some paint sticks for a project and they gave them to me for free! SCORE! I made this in 30 minutes! Check it out!

Step by Step Picture Instructions

1. Arrange your paint sticks - I used 20 paint sticks

2. Cut out a cardboard circle- I used a mixing bowl to trace my circle.

3. Arrange your paint sticks onto the cardboard circle. Trace a line with a pencil to keep you on your mark when you glue.

4. Hot glue your "inner circle" of paint sticks down.

5. Glue the second circle of paint sticks down, as well as on the back (as shown).

6. Paint your sunburst using spray paint or acrylic paint

Nail to the wall and enjoy!

Jean Pocket Placemats

Here's a fun way to use your old jeans - Jean Pocket Placemats!
Fast, easy and practical.
Summer outside dining here we come!

Step by Step Picture Instructions.

1. Grab your "worn out" STRAIGHT leg jeans (men's jeans work great)

2. Cut down the side seam to open the leg to 1 flat piece

3. Measure and cut the flat leg piece (starting from the bottom) to 19-20 inches.
(Depending on how long you want your placemat to be. We have smaller dinner plates so I cut mine to 19 inches)

4. Roll jean over 1/2 inch and sew hem around the 2 "raw edges"
I left the original "thick" jean hem as it was. I didn't think I needed to re-sew it.
If it frays- it will look more rustic! ;)
(See top picture for the 2 edges I didn't sew, and the 2 edges I did)

5. Cut out jean back pockets (leaving a 1/2 inch jean rim around the pocket)

6. Sew the jean pocket on to the bottom right corner of the placemat.

7. Pick the fabric fibers on the half inch rim around the pocket to give it a more "rustic" look.

Repeat as many placemats as you want! The table is ready to be set.

(My little girl LOVES to set the table using our new placemats!)

Pineapple Walnut Cheese Log

This easy self serve appetizer is delicious. Thick, creamy, salty, sweet and crunchy. Talk about fun textures and flavors that will make your mouth say wow! Why not a cheese BALL? Simple, a ball rolls all around the platter - a log stays in place. Much easier to self serve.

Pineapple Walnut Cheese Log

2 pkg cream cheese (room temperature)
1 (8 oz) can crushed pineapple (drained)
1 c. finely chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. paprika
-----------------
(RESERVED)
1 c. chopped walnuts - to coat the cheese log before serving

Combine all ingredients in a bowl (except reserved walnuts) and mix until well combined. Cover and refrigerate over night.

The next day....form the cheese log with your hands and place reserved 1 c. chopped walnuts over all. Place on your platter and serve with bread or crackers.

Delish!

Be the Good

This is one of my all time favorite phrases! I love the world and I love all the good in it. Sometimes it's hard to find, but there is always good going on.

In the news we are continuously bombarded with the negative that's going on in the world; but once in a while they find something positive. There is something someone has done worth celebrating "on the air."

I am grateful for those who go unnoticed for their kindness to others.
I am grateful for the examples in my life who have blessed me by doing good and being good.
I will always have a constant goal to be the good in the world, and this picture is a perfect reminder.

Rice Krispie Cake

Rice Krispie Cake!
This is the easiest and fastest way to make a layered cake! And guess what?
NO BAKING! WHOO HOO!
Just make a double batch of everyone's favorite Rice Krispie Treats and follow the steps!

1.-2. Make a batch of Rice Krispie Treats

Grease with cooking spray 3 different sized bowls
(preferably circular baking dishes that are flat on the bottom)

Press an even amount of Rice Krispie Treat into the 3 dishes.
Turn the dish over to remove. The rice krispie cake "mold" should slide right out.

3. Take 1 can of vanilla frosting and warm it for 30 seconds. Portion it out into 3 bowls. Add desired food coloring and mix until well blended.

Drizzle warm frosting over the largest layer.

4. Add your middle rice krispie layer.

5. Drizzle the next desired frosting color over the middle layer

6. Place the smallest layer of rice krispies on top and finish off with the final layer of frosting.

Fast, easy and fun!

Pork Apple Salad

I've made this salad every day for lunch for the past week. I would seriously go to a restaurant and order this off a menu. The salty - sweet taste and crunchy textures keep me coming back begging for more.
Full of protein and packed with flavor! DELISH!

Pork Apple Salad

1-2 Pork Chops - cubed (or pork roast/loin we've tried them all - they're all good)
3 1/2 c. Lettuce
1/4 c. Peanuts
1/4 c. Mozzarella Cheese
1 Apple - cored then cubed

2 T. Balsamic Vinegar

In a skillet cook cubed pork in 1 T. Olive Oil. Dash with salt and 1/4 tsp. garlic powder.

While pork is cooking, prepare remaining ingredients. Combine all ingredients in a bowl except the balsamic vinegar. Add the cooked pork, and toss all together. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over top - toss the salad to coat all ingredients with the vinegar. Divide into two bowls and dive in!

DELISH!
